PIKESVILLE, Md. — A Baltimore County Police officer is hospitalized after being shot in the line of duty on Sunday morning.
It happened around 8:50am when police were called to a trail along the 900 block of Milford Mill Road for a suspicious person exposing themselves.
As officers arrived at the scene, they came under gunfire.
One officer was struck, as was the alleged gunman after police returned fire.
During the shootout a bystander was also hit.
Police say the wounded officer is awake, but remains in critical condition at University of Maryland Shock Trauma. They are expected to survive.
The injured suspect is now in custody and recovering at the hospital.
